Personal Narrative ROugh Draft- March 2014
For my senior project I planned with my group mates, Annalie, and Chris, to go around to veterinary offices, and help out by cleaning out cages that they have there for any overnight animals and then also by taking out animals for walks that people have dropped off for vacations. Sadly when we called around to the offices in the Paw Paw area, no one was looking for any volunteer work, or we never got any word from the offices we contacted originally, so we had to find out a new aspect to work on.
When Annalie and I called Eleanor's Pantry to see if they are currently taking any donations, they replied with they are always taking donations, and they are happy to take them. The woman who picked up on the phone also continued to tell us that they were looking for any Canned meat like tuna, chicken, and spam. Large cans of fruit, and cereal. Pretty much any types of food that is non-perishable. Soon after that, we have to get permission from some of the grocery stores in order to put out boxes to collect food for Eleanor's pantry.
From doing this over and over again, I hope to get a form of satisfaction from helping people, and remaining anonymous. I feel like the people who help out others, and make a big deal about getting their names out there usually just go out like a flame on a candle, and go out quickly. The experience I hope to get from collecting food for Eleanor’s Pantry is that people are appreciative no matter what you do, or look like, as long as you welcome them with a friendly tone and a smile.
