Setting in the book
Chapter One:
When we start into reading about Lennie and George, we find out that they are living on the riverbank of the Salinas River in California.
The setting for them seems to be a safe area for them since they came out to the river to hide out from the angry townspeople from weeds.

Chapter Two:
The second chapter is widely based on the farm where George and Lennie eventually make it to, and find out that people are weary of new workers because the last few workers they got left after the first paycheck they got.
The bunkhouse is a rectangular structure with bunkbeds on each side, and a small area for their personal belongings.

Chapter Three:
Takes place during the first week the pair is there on the farm, getting used to the way of things. Yet tension is getting strung tighter and tighter as Curley is accusing man after man of trying to get with his wife. When Curley come into the bunkhouse, he starts to get attacked by Carlsen and Candy, and he sees Lennie in the corner smiling to himself about the puppies, and assumes Lennie is laughing at him.
When he goes to confront Lennie, he doesn't realize that Lennie doesn't know his own strength, and ends up smashing Curley's hand.

Lennie and Candy are left at the farm as the rest of the workers went into town to get Curley's hand looked at. Crooks learns that Lennie doesn't like it when people bring up the fact that George could leave him if he ever wanted to. Soon Curley's wife shows up and says that she wants to know where her husband went, and what happened to his hand. Then before she leaves, she says that she appreciates Lennie beating Curley before she did.

Soon Curley's wife comes in to start talking to him about her husband an how she doesn't truly love him. And soon, she makes the mistake of letting Lennie touch her hair, and he took her life by quickly shaking her to death.

George may be the one to shot him in the back of the head, yet it seems that everyone is behinde the bushes waiting for thr gunshot to ring out in the air.
