Symbols for Of mice and men
The puppy that Lennie owns and also the mice that Lennie keeps finding-
This is a symbol of how the strong will always preside over the weak. Seeing how Lennie can easily kill a small handful of mice, George should have known better than to let Lennie alone with the puppies. The puppy is the weakling while Lennie is the one in the relationship with all the power, and makes all the shots, and the puppy has to go along. Yet when the puppy goes to nip Lennie, he decides that he needs to scold the poor thing, and by that, he accidentally killed it.
The farm that George keeps dangling in front of Lennie, is very appealing not only to Lennie, Candy, and also Crooks (hoping that they might let him visit or even live there) it also makes the reading think that there may be a happy ending for them all. Hoping that they'll reach that farm in the end and live happily ever after. Even though it's a small glimmer of hope for them all, and sadly Lennie didn't get to even close to that dream.
